To whom it may concern,
There is a growing problem at Pocahontas State Correctional Center. The best example of it is three guards: Sargent, Shelton and Barry. These three guards have made it their mission to weaponize sound in ALPHA building, using the PA system and their deliberately loud voices, as a way of openly torturing with the intent to cause harm, the elderly, veterans, mental health, and soon to go home captives.
Complaints have been lodged through both the internal grievance system and from outside
supporters. These three guards have been repeatedly told to STOP doing what is actually a
criminal and human rights violating act. They’ve been told this more than once. Instead of
adhering to the orders of their superiors, these three guards continue to act in violent and
abusive ways… All we can do is report this to the DOC and its staff who seem to applaud this sort of poor training applied to causing harm.
This is the example, an example that is now openly working to subvert its new warden. The
mail room refuses to deliver mail. Other guards refuse to allow us outside for recreation and fresh air. They serve spoiled food to those who have a sealed and protected religious diet because that diet costs them too much. Educators don’t show up for weeks at a time, but continue to keep their jobs and even get paid. A facility whose staff is openly discussed as having embezzled state resources and also murdered over the past 15 years. A staff who after being caught up in one criminal act or another is allowed to keep working, not only for the state, but in a position of law enforcement and supposed public trust… “Officer Edwards” is ready to do the most harm because they’ve been trained that way.
These are NOT good people and they are being permitted to cause great harm. They enjoy
causing harm and they are not the exceptions, they are the example of what is being taught and how they are trained. It is all the worse that so much of it is out of spite towards a new administration and that we are made to suffer.
